D.Well, I'm afraid I don't know exactly.
听力原文:M: Well, we'll certainly stay here again next time when we're passing through !
W: Good! Do let us know in advance. And we'll try to get you the same room.
M: That would be lovely. It may be quite soon in fact.
W: Oh, how's that 9

M: It doesn't matter. What's wrong with Tom? Does he have a bad cold or have a headache?
W: I was told that he hurt himself in the left left during the football game.

W: I recently read that in ten years we'll be wearing clothes that change with the weather. So when it's cold, our clothes will warm up, and when it's hot, our clothes will cool off.
M: Oh, very funny! So we'll be wearing huge clothes with built-in air-conditioners and heaters.
W: I'm serious. Researchers have discovered a method of treating fibers with plastic crystals which can store and release heat as the temperature changes. These treated fibers absorb more heat than untreated fibers. Researchers are still working with this, but soon this process will be widespredad.
M: That's fascinating. I didn't know that fibers can store heat. How does that work?
W: These fibers work with the heat by rearranging their structures.
M: That's truly unbelievable. You said that it'll be a decade before this type of clothes will be available. What a shame! I don't think I can wait that long.

听力原文:M: How are your new neighbors, Nancy?
W: They seem nice enough, but they have a son who's driving ale crazy.
M: What do you mean?
W: He comes home every night around 11 with his car windows rolled down and radio blaring. It stops as soon as he turns the car off. But by then the children are all awake.
M: Have you tried talking to them?
W: We haven't even really met them yet except to say a quick hello. I hate to get off on my own feet.
M: You are not going to like them when you do meet them if you keep on simmering.
W: I know, but I feel stupid complaining.
M: But you said it was driving you crazy.
W: Well, you know how early I have to get up to be here at the office. I'm just not getting enough sleep and neither are the kids. They're so irritable when I get home in the afternoon.
M: Maybe you could go over sometime with a little gift: a plant for the yard or something else. Then you could ask about their son and whether they have any other children. Then they will be sure to ask about yours.
W: And then?
M: Then you could mention that the hardest thing is to get your kids to get sleep at night.
W: That is a good idea.
M: You should do it soon. The longer you wait, the harder it will be to do politely.

The anti-smoking rinse itself tastes rather pleasant. But if you light up within 6 to 8 hours of smoking it, your cigarette will taste like burnt rubber and you won't smoke past the first puff, explains Dr. Sebastian Ciancio, director of the Center for Dental Studies at the University of Buffalo.
Ciancio is heading up a pilot study in which 10 smokers, each of whom normally smoke at least a pack of cigarettes a day, are rinsing their mouths three times daily with the anti-smoking solution. Another 10 are getting a placebo. Prior to this study, only the inventor had tested the anti-smoking rinse—a chemist who does not wish to be identified—and a few of his friends, who say it enabled them to quit smoking.
And Ciancio has no shortage of volunteers: The waiting list to participate in the study is already full. "People arc desperate," he says. If the pilot study is successful, it will be expanded.
Not only might the patented formulation deter smoking, Ciancio adds, but it also appears to reduce plaque, gingivitis, and halitosis. Manufacturing the rinse, he estimates, would cost approximately the same as conventional mouthwashes.
How many smokers are participating in the pilot study now?

B.21.
C.over
D.20
